Food Inc: Part 3 blog
At the end of the movie it explains that many, if not all companies have several attorneys. Many people try and sue them toset a point, but they always end up losing. Companies, for example store companies, have to mark all cloned items as "cloned." Companies need a lot of oil to produce food, operate machines, and other uses. The only problem with machines is that they do not have the resilience to deal with shocks. That was a big cause of why salminila expanded around the world.
Costs of healthy food have risen. Grain used to be so cheap that other places could not compete. Now it costs way more to eat well. That is why a lot of people prefer to eat fast food, because it is cheap. Companies need to make improvements on lower prices for healthy food so that they close to being or as cheap as un-healthy foods.
I think that people would have better lives if they were allowed to have the choices of foods with out price being a problem. Many people have less risks of heart attack, strokes, etc.. Companies go the extremes in making us un-aware of the health risks we take by eating or consuming their products. In know i would totally make my own meals all day, every day if I knew I would live better.

Today, there are basically no slaughter houses. There used to be thousands of them, but now there is only thirteen. Now there are companies, companies try to remove pathogens but they end up spreading them out. Plants that have contamination problems and do not pass have to be shut down. Each step in efficiency lead to problems. Now they do not try to solve problems by hand, they try to high tech fix it, which is not good because things end up going wrong. As a cause of this, ecoli has been a big problem. There was a child in the movie that bleed when he used the bathroom due to having chemological ecoli. Since all meat and regular produce has "add-ons." So therefore, people go to organic products which has become a growing production. Many people may go to buy organic foods but all the rest go to local fast food restaurants because it is cheaper and it has what people want; salt, fat, and sugar.
I think that we have to find solution rather then having all these companies producing our food. they cause too many problems. It is expensive to farm, but many more people should being to do so. It is more expensive to go out and get cured from ecoli then to have your own farm. It's so crazy how all these things are hidden from people and you find out when it's too late.
Food Inc: Part 1 blog
I began watching Food Inc. in class today and it shows a lot of things about food that we don't know because companies hide it to make money. So much of the industrial food that we have are rearrangements of corn. Corn can be broken down because it is one big starch, so it can make varieties of foods like: jellies, syrup, meat, and many more foods. In local grocery stores their are foods that aren't in season, yet we have them all year round, ex: tomatoes. They are injected with indafelene gas to be more plump. Along with that, a lot of the meat that is being processed happens at factories not at farms, like what we would think is happening. Chickens are being re-designed to have large breast because the demand of white meat is in demand. Chickens now are being slaughtered which makes them grow in a shorter amount of time to be "fully produced." This makes chickens carry too much weight that they cannot even bare to be on their feet. Beef is also being changed, for example the McDonalds burgers are all "fake" because they have things added to them so that each one can taste the same. There used to be several meat companies, but now there is four which make up to 80% of the production. Chicken coops, aren't really chicken coops anymore, they are more like an assembly line where no farming is being done. Companies basically "black-mail" farmers that are in debt because they need to make the best production for the company so that they can make money and get out of their debt.
I honestly think this is very bad for us because it just makes us depend on "injected" foods. Like we basically do not have anything natural. This would motivate me to go and have my own farm where I can grow all my produce and meats so that i know what is in them and what is being done to them. I think it is pretty crazy how we are living our lives this way, or that it is even allowed to sell us "injected" food at our local grocery store.

Dan: Why I love fish.
Dan had gone on a trip with his friend Miguel. They saw several scenes which in Dans eyes were "beautiful", he became very interested in all sorts of ways. He learned a lot of new, interesting facts about fish. Things like how fish we're not necessaril feed anything but they were just feeding off of things in the lakes, rivers, etc.. Dan was amazed by the little things he didn't know. It was like he was getting taught a lesson from a science class in school. I thought it was interesting how it took several fishes just to get the amount of tuna in one can! Dan got me interested in learning more about aquatic animals and how they are and live in the environment. Mostest of the times you never really care about such things, but I was very fascinated by the video. As long as it was, it was worth the time.
